Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
Nation's Dawn ("we," "us") helps missionaries stay connected with the churches and individuals who support them. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Nation's Dawn with the safety of missionaries serving in sensitive places in mind, and privacy is central to how it works.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure cryptographic hash), and an optional profile photo.
- Missionary profiles — the display name you choose (which may be an alias), field/region, bio, links to your own external giving page, and — if you choose to place one — your mission location, used to show a pin on maps you and your supporters see.
- Church information — church name, location, description, service times, and contact details. A church is listed in our public directory only if it opts in.
- Content you create — posts, prayer requests, newsletters, devotionals, comments, and photos or videos you upload.
- Direct messages — messages between users are end-to-end encrypted on your device. We cannot read their contents.
- Preferences — your email digest and push notification settings.
- Push subscriptions — if you turn on push notifications, your browser's push endpoint and keys, so notifications can be delivered to your device.
- Technical information — a session cookie to keep you signed in, and limited data such as IP address and timestamps used to operate the service securely.
How we use your information
- To provide the service — publishing updates to the audiences you choose and showing you the feeds, maps, and directories you're entitled to see.
- To send the email digests and push notifications you have opted into, on the schedule you choose.
- To keep accounts secure — verifying email addresses, preventing abuse, and signing out idle sessions.
- To respond to support requests.
We never process your giving. Nation's Dawn is not a payment or donation processor. "Need" posts simply link to a missionary's own existing giving page; any donation happens entirely on that third party's site, and we do not collect, handle, or store payment or card information.
How your information is shared
- Within the platform — content is shown only to the audiences you choose (your supporters, specific churches or people, or your followers), according to each post's visibility settings.
- Service providers — we use trusted providers to operate the service, including email delivery (Microsoft 365), your browser or operating system vendor's push notification service (only if you enable push), hosting, and optional error monitoring. They process data only to provide these services to us.
- Public church directory — only churches that opt in appear publicly, along with the details they choose to list. The missionaries a church supports are never shown in the directory.
- Maps — the public church directory uses OpenStreetMap to display church locations. Missionary mission maps are served entirely from our own servers and are never sent to any third-party map provider.
- Legal reasons — if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of our users.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Protecting missionaries in sensitive regions
Missionaries can serve under an alias, hide their profile from search entirely, restrict any post to specific churches or people, and grow their audience by invitation only. Mission-location maps are self-hosted so a missionary's whereabouts are never disclosed to an outside company.
Your choices and rights
- Access & export — you can download a copy of your account data at any time from your settings.
- Delete — you can permanently delete your account at any time; this removes your account and associated content.
- Notifications — you can change or turn off email digests and push notifications whenever you like, and every digest email includes a one-click unsubscribe.
- Edit — you can update your profile and preferences at any time.
Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your account and its associated content, except where we must retain limited records to comply with the law.
Security
Passwords are hashed, direct messages are end-to-end encrypted, each church's data is isolated, accounts are email-verified, idle sessions sign out automatically, and traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
Nation's Dawn is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date above, and significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
